The United Arab Emirates has announced plans for Masdar City, a high-tech, zero-emissions, zero-waste subdivision near Abu Dhabi International Airport. This solar-powered, car-free, walled city will allow about 50,000 wealthy residents to live the enviro-capitalist dream of a zero-impact life. The project is projected to cost $22 billion.
